Setmana Taurina resumes its prova i entrà on Thursday after heat disruption
The 2026 Setmana Taurina will hold its second effective day of events in Montserrat on Thursday. The programme begins at 8 am with a bou en corda, a bull run using a rope, featuring David Alfaro livestock. One of the day’s main events follows at 1 pm with the traditional prova i entrà, featuring bulls from Fernando Machancoses.
The lunchtime event follows the cancellation of the activity planned for Wednesday 19 August, a day marked by a red weather warning and extreme temperatures in the municipality. Thursday’s events will therefore allow the Setmana Taurina programme to resume after the heat-related disruption.
Programme for Thursday 20 August
- 8 am: bou en corda with David Alfaro livestock.
- 1 pm: prova i entrà with Fernando Machancoses livestock.
- 7 pm: novillada with Fernando Machancoses livestock.
- Midnight: Concurs de Retalladors with Benavent livestock, followed by a bou embolat.
The 1 pm prova i entrà is one of the regular fixtures of the Setmana Taurina and brings participants and spectators to Montserrat’s bous al carrer route. The programme is due to continue through the afternoon and evening, subject to any last-minute changes caused by weather conditions.
The Setmana Taurina, organised by Penya Taurina «Prova i Entrà», continues until Monday 24 August as part of Montserrat’s Festes Majors.
