La Vuelta’s peloton will pass through Montserrat on Saturday 29 August
The La Vuelta peloton will pass through Montserrat on Saturday 29 August. Stage eight, a flat 171-kilometre day between Puçol and Xeraco, will cross the town’s urban area: the organiser expects the publicity caravan at around 2.02 pm and the peloton between 3.27 and 3.37 pm, depending on the speed of the race.
Route through Montserrat
- Avinguda Carles Salvador.
- Carrer Vicent Andrés Estellés.
- Carrer Alfredo Garcia.
- Avinguda Jaume I.
- Avinguda Blasco Ibáñez, towards Montroi.
The urban route published by the Ajuntament (the town council) corrects and specifies the course shown on La Vuelta’s own official page, which describes the passage through the town as «Monserrat, rotonda derecha dirección Turís-Montroi» without detailing the streets of the urban area. According to the municipal information, the race will enter via avinguda Carles Salvador and leave along avinguda Blasco Ibáñez towards Montroi, with traffic disruption from 2 pm.
El Diari de Montserrat asked La Vuelta to confirm the exact route through the town but had received no reply by the time this update was completed. Following the new announcement, the route published by the Ajuntament is being treated as the operational reference.
La Vuelta is one of cycling’s three grand tours, alongside the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia, and its passage on Saturday will turn the streets of Montserrat into the setting for a sporting event of international reach.
