Montserrat held the Gran Cavalcada de Festes (Grand Festivities Parade) on the afternoon of Thursday 13 August, one of the central events in the 2026 Festes Majors calendar. The parade began at 7 pm and brought displays prepared by participating groups through the town’s streets.

The different creations competed in the four official categories: Carrossa (float), Comparsa (themed group), Figura (figure) and Tradició (tradition). Floats featured hand-decorated structures; groups developed a common theme; figures represented a single motif, either individually or collectively; and the tradition category brought together displays linked to local roots and identity.

Craftsmanship, originality and staging

The jury assessed the finish of the costumes, the construction of the floats and the decorative elements used by groups, as well as originality and staging. Carrossa offered prizes of €200, €150 and €100 for first, second and third place respectively, plus a €50 participation award. Comparsa offered prizes of €100, €60 and €40, plus €25 for participation. Figura had a €40 first prize and a €10 participation award, while Tradició had a €100 first prize and €25 for participation. Participation awards could not be combined with any other prize.
