Germans Asensi wins the Prova i Entrà contest with 29.30 points

Germans Asensi, from Orba (Alacant), has won the Prova i Entrà contest at Montserrat’s 2026 Setmana Taurina with a total of 29.30 points. Germans Benavent, from Quatretonda, finished second with 28.30, while Raúl Izquierdo, from Codo (Zaragoza), completed the podium with 25.85.

The winning group scored 4.75 points through Malacara, 6.55 through Pastelera, 2.90 through the bull Rompeador, 7.95 through Gitana and 7.15 through Poderosa. This consistent performance allowed Germans Asensi to finish one point ahead of Germans Benavent.

The Quatretonda breeder presented the highest-scoring animal in the contest: Espléndida, with 8.95 points. Its total was completed by Peleona —3.80—, the bull Moreno —3.50—, Airosa —6.70— and Pequeña —5.35—. Raúl Izquierdo secured third place through Chaparra —3.85—, Labrador —4.20—, the bull Africano —3.50—, Beata —5.45— and Violeta —8.85—, which received the second-highest individual score.

Germans Navarre took fourth place with scores from Orteguilla —3.55—, Rubia —5.25—, the bull Iguano —1.65—, Excursionista —6.45— and Maletilla —7.15—. Daniel Sánchez completed the valid standings with Diana —8.25—, Huraña —6.65—, the bull Azucarero —1.85—, Mixta —2.75— and Caracorta —1.70—.

Two days disrupted by the weather

Weather conditions affected the contest. La Paloma was unable to take part in its scheduled session because of the red weather warning for high temperatures. Fernando Machancoses’s performance was also excluded from the final standings: Thursday’s rain left the streets along the route wet and its animals did not compete under the same conditions as the other groups, so the entry was deemed invalid for the purposes of the contest.

In the individual awards, Espléndida, from Germans Benavent, led the standings with 8.95 points, followed by Violeta, from Raúl Izquierdo, with 8.85, and Diana, from Daniel Sánchez, with 8.25. Among the bulls, Moreno, from Germans Benavent, and Africano, from Raúl Izquierdo, shared the highest score with 3.50 points.

The result concludes the daily prova i entrà contest held during the Setmana Taurina, part of Montserrat’s Festes Majors, after an edition in which weather conditions forced changes to both the programme and the final standings.
