AEMET issues a red heat warning for Wednesday in Montserrat
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a red-level warning for high temperatures for Wednesday 19 August in the northern coastal area of the province of València, which includes Montserrat. The warning, in force between 1 pm and 9 pm, points to a maximum temperature of 43 degrees, with a 40 to 70% probability of the threshold being reached.

For Montserrat, the agency’s municipal forecast points to a clear-sky day with a high of 44 degrees and a low of 21, a heat sensation of up to 44 and minimum humidity of 10%. It will be the warmest day of the week: on Tuesday the thermometer stays at 37 degrees, and on Thursday the high will drop to 38, with storms expected and a 90% probability of rain.
A red warning across almost the whole province
The maximum-level warning also affects the southern coast of València, with 44 degrees forecast, while the southern interior keeps the orange level with 43 degrees, locally 44, and the northern interior remains orange with 39. Across the Comunitat Valenciana, the three provinces are under warning for high temperatures.
The stations of the Associació Valenciana de Meteorologia «Josep Peinado» (AVAMET) in the municipal term recorded a high of 35.1 degrees this Tuesday in the town centre (Casadalt) and 33.9 in the Masia Trinitat area, with gusts of up to 32 km/h — a starting point that leaves room for temperatures to clearly exceed 40 degrees in the town on Wednesday.
Because of the warning, the Ministry of Health recommends drinking water and fluids frequently even without feeling thirsty, avoiding drinks with caffeine, alcohol or high sugar content, staying in cool or air-conditioned places, reducing physical activity and avoiding outdoor sport in the central hours of the day. It also advises paying special attention to babies and children, pregnant women and older people or those with conditions that may be worsened by heat, never leaving anyone in a parked, closed vehicle, and consulting a health professional if symptoms related to high temperatures last longer than an hour.
Facing the red level, AEMET itself urges people to take precautionary action, remain vigilant and act on advice given by authorities, keep up to date with the latest forecast and only travel if the journey is essential, warning that «extreme or catastrophic damages to people and properties may occur, especially to those vulnerable or in exposed areas».
