AEMET lifts red rain warning and downgrades Montserrat to orange
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has deactivated this Friday 2 October the red-level warning for rain it kept in force in the northern coastal area of the province of Valencia, which includes Montserrat, since Thursday afternoon. The highest warning level in the area has now fallen to orange, the second-highest on the Meteoalerta scale.

With the red level lifted, the northern coast of Valencia is under an orange rain warning tonight between 9 pm and 11.59 pm, and under yellow warnings for rain and storms for the rest of the day and throughout Saturday 3, until 11.59 pm.
The Montserrat Town Council (Ajuntament de Montserrat) issued a red alert for rain on Thursday through its municipal channels, in line with AEMET’s red-level warning, and adopted the following preventive measures while the warning remained in force:
- All sports facilities, the cemetery, the pipican (dog park) and access to flood-prone areas are closed.
- All municipal buildings are closed: the town hall, the Casa de la Cultura (culture centre), Depén de Tu, the library, the study room and the old town hall.
- All festive and cultural activities are suspended while the warning remains in force.
The episode is the same one AEMET flagged on Wednesday with special warning for adverse weather number 31 of 2026, for very heavy and persistent showers across the eastern third of the peninsula. The situation will last at least until Monday 5, so unnecessary journeys should be avoided and people should stay away from ravines and watercourses during the episode.
